Relationship Self Help - Can Save Your Relationship

To bring the intimacy back into the relationship there are many relationship self help techniques you can use. Most people feel that the intimacy in a relationship declines overtime. This doesn’t mean the love has gone. The truth is patterns and habits develop in all relationships which often make people feel more like roommates than lovers.

Try using some relationship self help techniques instead of giving up on your relationship. These techniques can bring back intimacy levels like it was in the beginning of the relationship.

Here are some relationship self help techniques.

1. Small Talk

Couples who engage in constructive communication or small talk tend to have less arguments and fights during the relationship. Now that doesn’t mean that you have to bother your partner with what you did for every hour of the day.

By sharing your observation and opinions about things you both did throughout the day is small talk. It is not just talking but you have to pay attention to what each other are saying. Effective communication; you ask question and respond positively.

2. Eye Contact

Do you look your partner in the eye when you talk to each other? Throughout the progression of the relationship most people don’t make eye contact but look in the direction of their partners eyes.

Eye contact was more when you first met. Eye contact creates a positive way to build intimacy. As time goes by there is less eye contact which cause people to believe the intimacy is dying.

3. Non-sexual Physical Contact

You can increase the level of intimacy in a none-sexual way by encouraging your partner to learn to touch you. Hugging your partner doesn’t have to lead to anything further. You can give your partner a foot rub or massage without an ulterior motive. When you go out together, try holding hands.

By doing these simple physical contact, it will help to increase intimacy and trust between each other and shows to be very effective relationship self help techniques. So keep on touching.

4. Appreciation

Try to focus on the things you appreciate about your partner instead of focusing on the things that annoy you about your partner. Spend time focusing on the thing that first attracted you to your partner when you first met. Don’t waste time focusing on the traits that annoy you as everyone has those traits, instead focus on the positive things.

5. Time Out

Patterns develop when couples try to spend all their time with their partners. Many people who do some things without their significant other makes them feel as though their partner is deserting them. Don’t get me wrong, as it is normal for two people to enjoy each other’s company but also remember that everyone needs a time out occasionally.

Now time out could be you going out with the girls for coffee or a movie night out with some friends. By encouraging each other to spend some time doing things they enjoy is a way to improve the relationship.
